Maya Angelou said, “A bird does not sing in response, but a bird sings because it has a song”
We have a song to sing about Jesus, and that song includes ministry in a variety of ways and levels, and so I hope that this brief encouragement will assist you in walk this week.
Many people ask and pray for a double portion anointing, but I don’t believe it exists in the New Testament. In the Old Testament, Elisha asked Elijah for a double portion of what he had, which was a normal request in that the first son often received a double portion of the inheritance. But in the New Testament, we are told we will do the same things as Jesus did and even greater things. Greater is beyond double!
In Romans 12:3 we are told we are each given a measure of faith, (which is designed to grow) and will grow as we nurture our faith in the Word of God and through prayer, but the Spirit is given without measure. Faith comes in a measure, but the Holy Spirit comes without measure.
John 3:34 says that the Spirit was on Jesus without measure. So if we are going to do the same things He did and greater, then we simply pray and ask for more anointing or a fresh anointing according to Psalm 92:10. Of course, taking steps to increase our measure of faith is also helpful for us to believe for bigger and larger Kingdom avenues as we walk in the Spirit with an unlimited supply of anointing.
If a water bottle has 16 ounces of water in it, we can double it and then double it again and again, but if something has no measure to it, how can we double it? So our prayer is simply, “Lord we ask for more.” And whatever we need for the task, assignment, or opportunity is available to us at that very moment.
