“The Stranger” by Judge Roy Moore

The old man was alone by the fire that night; His wife and his kids were in bed. Christmas was near, but he was out of a job And could barely keep his family fed.

It was snowing outside and cold in the room, Because he had little wood left to burn. This would be a sad Christmas with cupboards so bare, For he had run out of places to turn. Continue reading

Prayer Regarding Sandy Hook Elementary… by Max Lucado

Sandy Hook Children

Dear Jesus,

It’s a good thing you were born at night. This world sure seems dark. I have a good eye for silver linings. But they seem dimmer lately.

These killings, Lord.  These children, Lord.  Innocence violated.  Raw evil demonstrated.

The whole world seems on edge. Trigger-happy. Ticked off. We hear threats of chemical weapons and nuclear bombs. Are we one button-push away from annihilation?

Your world seems a bit darker this Christmas.  But you were born in the dark, right? You came at night. The shepherds were night shift workers. The Wise Men followed a star. Your first cries were heard in the shadows. To see your face, Mary and Joseph needed a candle flame. It was dark. Dark with Herod’s jealousy. Dark with Roman oppression. Dark with poverty.  Dark with violence.

Herod went on a rampage, killing babies. Joseph took you and your mom into Egypt. You were an immigrant before you were a Nazarene.

Oh, Lord Jesus, you entered the dark world of your day. Won’t you enter ours? We are weary of bloodshed. We, like the wise men, are looking for a star. We, like the shepherds, are kneeling at a manger.

Vineyard CrossThis Christmas, we ask you, heal us, help us, be born anew in us.

Hopefully,

Your Children  sunset San Diego

Day 12 of Omaha HUB Revival – Go Again!

HUB 12

I will add current pictures to this post on Saturday, but wanted to give an update –

First, while attendance on Thursday was a little less than most of the other meetings, it surged again this evening.  There were many young adults and college age students along with some high school students and children.  One of the healings from the night before was a young lady – I believe she was 13 and had a metal plate fused in her back since she was seven, and could not bend or touch her toes, but suddenly Continue reading

Running Free

“If you look at the world, you’ll be distressed… I’d you look within, you may be depressed… If you look to Jesus, you’ll be at rest!” – so come out for an evening of worship, songs, worship, songs, festive refreshments and fellowship – with fellow worship leader and recording artist Kyle Knapp – “And rest…………. in His presence.”

For many months, our son Jason worked hard on his new worship album called, “Running Free” and has twelve original worship songs combined with a few other themes, so I thought I would share some of the details.

When Jason was two days old on his first night home, he slept on my chest while I was on the couch giving Diane a restful night’s sleep in our bedroom.  So he wrote a song about that called “Safe in your Arms” which speaks about that first night leading into riding on my shoulders and transitions to someday when Jason has his own children, and they are our grandchildren – but the song also, specifically pinpoints the Father’s love for us.  I know you will enjoy it.

Silent Night, Holy Night, in Summer, plus Heart Warming “God” Stories

This past Saturday I received an email note from the parents of a 61/2 year old boy.  I did not recall meeting the parents, but they shared with me that after several miscarriages, and a variety of unsuccessful fertility treatments, they had given up hope of ever having children.  But now they were writing asking me to pray for their son who battles allergies, and of course I am delighted to pray for the child.  What I did not know and later learned in the same email was that this couple attended a healing service I led over seven years ago, where I simply prayed over them and shared that they would have a child within one year, and just prior to that one year period, they had their son, who is now 61/2.  Isn’t that a great story?  Doesn’t it just warm your heart to know God still moves and talks and heals and gives life, and joy in the midst of sorrow, pain and suffering?   We serve an incredible God.
